Prof Kevin McConway works on applications of statistics in biological and medical sciences, and on the representation of ideas of risk and uncertainty.
For several years he has been involved with an BBC/Open University co-production, '
More or Less', a current affairs programme about numbers, broadcast on BBC Radio 4. He is the main person responsible for academic liaison with the BBC production team
Research Interests:
- Applications of statistics in biological and medical sciences, particularly in plant ecology and evolution.
- Representation of risk and uncertainty, particularly health risks, in the media.
- Personal-level measurement of socio-economic deprivation in health care contexts.
