I joined the OU in 2001, after 2 years as a Lecturer in Management Science at Lancaster University. Previously, I was a Research Fellow in the Statistics Department at Warwick University where I worked on the development of Bayesian uncertainty handling and data assimilation models for nuclear emergencies (RODOS project).
Back in 1996, I obtained a PhD in Statistics at Warwick University when I extended non-linear models for the combination of expert judgements to multivariate settings represented by graphical models. Earlier, in 1992, I concluded an MSc in Control Systems Theory in the Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE) at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) in Brazil. I worked for 3 years as an Engineer at the CAD/CAM Unit of the Brazilian National Institute of Technology in the development of quality control systems for Industry.
